  Our History & Mission

The Silas T. Garcia Insurance Agency was founded in 1958 by Silas Garcia and began as a home-based operation offering a limited line of insurance options.

The Agency quickly outgrew the home office and by 1965 became a Full Service Insurance Agency offering property and casualty coverage, and a full-line of life and health products.

Upon the death of Silas Garcia in 1986, Phil Garcia, manager of the agency for the previous eight years, assumed full responsibility of the family business.  Phil purchased the agency in 1988 and is currently located at 1443 St. Francis Drive.

The Silas T. Garcia Insurance Agency represents 3,000 small to large businesses, families, and individuals throughout northern New Mexico.

Since 1958, our mission has been to serve our clients with professional, prompt, and courteous service while providing the highest quality competitive products.  We offer our clients insurance products tailored to their individual needs, and counsel them how to best achieve their financial goals. As the market changes, we are continually creating new services and policies to better serve our clients.

Your privacy is important to us

We understand that the information you provide to us, when you apply for insurance or make a claim, is private. This privacy policy is provided to you so that you will understand what Silas T. Garcia Insurance Agency's licensed personnel and staff does with the personal information that you provide to us and the measures we take to respect the confidentiality of that information.

How do we collect and maintain information for you?

Silas T. Garcia Insurance Agency acquires most of our information from you, the customer. The information we collect enables us to provide you with services and products that meet your individual needs. The application or claim form you complete, usually gives us most of the information we need to know. Sometimes we may contact you by mail, e-mail, fax or telephone to obtain additional information.

Depending on your insurance needs, we may need additional information about you or other individuals proposed for coverage. We may obtain additional information we need from third parties, such as other insurance companies or agents, government agencies, state motor vehicle department, information clearinghouses, car dealerships, medical personnel, credit reporting agencies, public records, law enforcement, or courts. Consumer reporting agency may provide us with information as to creditworthiness, credit standing, credit capacity, occupation or mode of living.

Do we disclose or share customer information with outsiders?

There are legal requirements governing the use, collection and disclosure of your information. Our office maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with state and federal regulations to guard your personal information. Everyone at Silas T. Garcia Insurance Agency has been instructed as to the importance of the confidentiality of personal information. Non-public personal financial or any non-public personal medical information about our customers or former customers will not be disclosed to anyone, except as permitted or required by law.

We may disclose such information about you to our affiliated companies, other insurance agencies, or third party administrators, but not to businesses for marketing purposes.

If coverage is declined or the charge for coverage is increased because of information contained in a consumer report we obtained, we will inform you, as required by state law or the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. We will also give you the name and address of the consumer reporting agency making the report.
